"Bee Pile" by Sonia Romero

After reading and hearing about ‘Colony Collapse Disorder,’ the phenomenon of the disappearance of bees, I became aware of the importance of bees in our food system. I became aware of the giant colonies of bees kept by commercial orchards and the potential loss of crops if bees truly dropped out of our food chain.

This piece is currently traveling the country in the exhibit, "Estampas de la Raza, Contemporary Prints from the Romo Collection". It has been exhibited at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, the Albuquerque Museum of Art, and the North Carolina Museum of Art, among others.
